02

Learning destruction and impact

These course-guided studies explored how surfaces fracture, how debris responds to force and how light, smoke and camera placement can make an impact feel more immediate.

03

Developing independent studies

These self-directed works applied the technical foundation to new scenes. Fluid and material studies became a way to explore flow, density, changing form and the balance between physical behaviour and visual composition.

04

From parameters to visual judgement

The studies were not only about making an effect work. Repeated tests helped develop a clearer sense of when motion feels too light or too heavy, how quickly an event should unfold and how an effect reads inside a complete scene.

Self-directed scenes

Placing effects inside a world

These original scenes developed the studies into wider environments, exploring how an effect relates to architecture, lighting and atmosphere. This connected isolated technical skills with the larger task of building believable real-time worlds.
